Advise the Commissioner General of prisons on matters relating to the establishment of prison industries, prisoners vocational training programs, production management and marketing.
Design and implement policy on the utilization of prisoners’ labour in compliance with the Constitution of Kenya, Prisons Act, Persons Deprived of Liberty Act, Labour Laws, international treaties and conventions.
Conduct periodic market research and formulate comprehensive marketing strategies for prisons industries products.
Set, review and revise prisons industries targets, and allocate funds to sections as per their requirements.
Monitor and coordinate vocational offender rehabilitation programs.
Keep custody and maintain industries ‘inventory for infrastructure, machinery, tools and equipment.
Receive and analyse prisons industries’ returns and reports.
Organize and conduct monitoring and evaluation of prison industries programs and projects performance.
