The Directorate has the following sections/units:

Core Functions

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of Strategic Plans.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of Performance Contracts.
  • Coordinate development of work plans
  • Budgeting.
  • Allocate funds for development programmes.
  • Monitor and evaluate development programmes and projects.
  • Provide policy guidelines on planning and development of prisons infrastructure
  • Coordinate with Government and Non-Government Agencies in designing development and maintenance of prison facilities. 
  • Facilitate prisons land registration and gazettement of prison
